Just like lobsters and crabs, shrimps belong to a category of living things called arthropods. Shrimps are a unique source of the carotenoid Astaxanthin. They’re also an excellent source of selenium, vitamin B12, phosphorus, choline, copper, iodine, vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin B6 and pantothenic acid (all B-complex vitamins), as well as vitamin A and vitamin E. In addition, they’re a very good source of protein, and antioxidants. Shrimps are overall a very good source of nutrients. Grounded, they are easier to use as condiments to ideally perfume your soups, sauces and stews.
